Here's a new pict, based on my little experiment for my Artbook , about revisiting the King Arthur's mythos, with a scifi twist.
Each of these picts comes with a pitch that provides more insights on the character. this one was for Morgan: Renegade Android last generation.Hergreed for power makes her an easy prey for the twisted Horned god. It is hard to
understand Morgan’s true motivations. Most think that her inextinguishable
curiosity turned into power lust, and from here her motives took a different
road .Originaly created to support Merlin’s heavy
task, she becames his more dreadfull ennemy. Morgan can generate illusions (
holographic projection) that are so real that they can lure the most advised
man. She can change her appearance at will, once an hold hag, then a miss in
distress.. she can eventually become totally invisible.
My artbook Derelict Planet is finally out!

Makoto Kobayashi is an amazing japanese designer, illustrator and model kit Creator.
He is famous in japan for the designs in the Gundam Series, and collaborated in many japanese masterpieces such as Giant ROBO, Battleship Yamato, Samourai 7, Venus Wars.. and worked on videogames too: Armored Core, Lost Odyssey...
His unique sense of shapes and mecha designs are @ the core of some other Japanese masters inspirations like Katsuhiro Otomo ( Akira), Ayaho Miyasaki (specially in Nausicaa) and Masumune Shirow ( Appleseed, Ghost in the Shell) He also created a serie of magazines called Hyper weapon, from 2001 to 2011... a must have!
oh yes.. looks like he is fan of Moebius as well ;)...
Heya guys, been a while :) Today ill talk about more inspirations and connections... What i like the most in Art, is to find the links that connect artists i love...
Here's a little journey on the derelict planet... First here's a painting from John Schoenherr for Dune
and a cover from Moebius for Arzack. Moebius being part of the preproduction on Alexandro Jodorovsky's Dune movie, he sure got inspired by the amazing works of Schoenherr who was Frank Herbert's official cover Artist at that time !
Another piece for Dune from John Schoenherr....
and a painting from Roger Dean for a Psygnosis box cover
Frank Herbert is to scifi what Tolkien is to Fantasy.
It is maybe the one and only saga i read every three/four years ;) and it continues to inspire me.
But Before that David Lynch turned it into the controversial movie everyboy knows... ( you love it or you hate it)
Did you know that back in 1974 there was a DUNE project in Europe, gathering eclectic band of talents lead byAlejandro Jodorowsky( director) with...
But also Dan O'Bannon( special effects), Orson Welles(as baron Vladimir Harkonnen) , Pink floyd (music) and Salvator Dali ( the emperor Shaddam the fourth for one hour on the set for a fee of $100,000 )...
What a crazy movie it would have been!
The project never passed the stage of conception, but this adventure triggered many ideas @ Holywood, and some bits and parts of this derelict planet can be still be found here and there for those who know where to look at...
Star wars
( Dan O'Bannon worked on effects of episode IV )
Empire strikes back's Sarlacc pit
Space slug
and Jabba the Hutt ( remains of Leto Atreides II the God emperor of Dune )
H.R. Giger: Alien got contacted after Dune to work on Alien, and the Planet harkonnen became the famous Planet LV-426
MOEBIUS:
the Long tomorrow ( wrote by Dan O'Bannon)
The Incal ( wrote by Alejandro Jodorowsky, his own version of Dune's roots an mythos )
hope that the next movie planned for 2010 and directed by Peter Berg ( yes , a new DUNE! ) will live up to our expectations :)
And while we are at it, here's my own little tribute to the Dune Universe ;)
